"Bread for Poland” - "Chleb dla Polski"

Fundraising and charity work during the 1950s

In the 1950s, The Alliancer led major fundraising efforts to support education and healthcare in Poland, including aid for the Lublin Catholic University, medical equipment for hospitals, and support for poor students. Through the Fund to Help Poland, the Polish-Canadian community donated X-ray machines, electrocardiographs, medications, and eventually a cobalt bomb for cancer treatment at the M. Curie-Sklodowska Institute.
